Tutorial: Cleaning a Neighborhood's wardrobe

The neighborhood package stores, among other things, the references that build the wardrobes of all sim households.

This tutorial will explain how to identify each household clothes, and how to delete a household's wardrobe.
1. Identifying the resources

Open the main neighborhood package. Our starting point will be the 3IDR resources, so select the 3IDR type from the type tree.

Before doing anything, you should sort the resource list by the Instance number.

The resources with instances from 0x00000000 to 0x00007FFF are reserved , and each one corresponds to the existing Family Information resource with the same instance.
You may notice that some special households don't have the corresponding 3IDR resource.

The remaining 3IDR resources, with Instances greater than 0x00007FFF , are linked to Binary Index resources with the same instance.

Each of these 3IDR's contains a reference to a Collection with the same instance as the corresponding household, and a reference to the Property Set that defines the clothing item:

With this data it's possible to construct the wardrobe for a given household, by finding all the 3DIR resources that contain a reference to a Collection with the same instance of the household.
2. Deleting the wardrobes

Deleting the entire wardrobe from the neighborhood is considerably easier, since it's not necessary to filter out the desired household resources.

In this case, we only need to delete the 3IDR's with Instance greater than 0x00007FFF, and the corresponding Binary Index'es (empirically all).

Interesting! Great find! Alas, it will not allow us to select which items we do or don't want. Sometimes you don't want to lose ALL the outfits that aren't in use, after all.
