All my hoods in one place.
« on: February 10, 2014, 08:20:44 PM »
ADD: MediaFire can be a pain in the butt for some to download from and to that end I have found a work around for it.
Right click on the download button and chose "open in new tab" and the download will start without the stupid pop-up adds.

I have replaced all Mediafire links with my Sim File Share account links for safer downloading.

I use the AGS (Any Game Starter) program using clean and empty environment with no Maxis content.

All these hoods only need the base game to play and you will start out with no townies/NPC until you start playing them.
I recommend you get all the "No Regen" mods from MATY, see post #12 for more info. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7.0.html

I like the look of Pleasantview but I did not like the mountains so close to the playable area, so to that effect I now give you my Pleasantview2 with some of the roads changed up a little and most of the mountains have been flatten out.

To use the small island in the upper right corner you will need a camera mod, I use GunMod's Camera mod "GCM-31-A.rar" and it works great.

Just because I felt the need to exert what little power I wield here I made this thread *sticky* so it won't get bumped of the front page.

Plus, it makes it seem all official-like, & given the work you have clearly put into these neighborhoods I think you have certainly earned your own little spot on this board!

(Of course this *sticky* thing can be over ruled by the stronger powers-that-be here, but I'm not anticipating any trouble...I hope!)

These neighborhoods look awesome & I can't wait to try them out! (The "Old Town" one really tickles my nostalgic side!)

ZW, that's awesome! You still read my mind! ;) It was *my* plan as well to 'sticky' this thread. That's why I suggested Mark put it in Shout Box :)

I have, however, one suggestion for Mark: had I known that you were going to include this much data about each hood (it's commendable to be thorough), I would surely have suggested that you should write a separate post for each hood, and put links to each post in the top post. Like I have done with my mods thread...

Apart from that one suggestion, very good!

I'd suggest that, since the original post in the thread contains hoods linked to PV and TS1, that Mark only includes those hoods in that post.  When he wants to add a hood or two with different themes, he starts a new thread for that theme and changes the name of this thread to include PV/TS1.

The Beginning of Strangetown.
Now hosted at MTS http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=522185 (STR1)

Going back to the begining of Strangetown.
The UFO has not crashed (yet) so there is no crater and the earthquake has not happen so the little hill has not formed (yet).

There are no houses or stores in the hood you will need to build them your self. (Most players like to do there own houses.)

All the Sims in this hood have been fixed and cloned from the Strangetown Ancestor's
following this Using Celesta92059 tutorial on resurrecting sims with no character data. http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Resurrecting_tips
After giving them data I use SimPE to extract them so I could make them anew, there all still in the bin and have never been played.

You can have any number of babies you want to so long as the named Sims are there.

Beaker/Halfdanarson/Salamis/McGork
Canute and Gertrude Beaker would like to have a son named Bjorn.

I would not get her pregnant by the Grim Reaper it may break your game.

Olive had a son - Nervous Subject - who was taken away by the Social Worker. There is no record of Nervous' father in the family tree, though some say it is the Grim Reaper.
First Olive gets left at the altar by Earl E DeMise who dies soon after with his brother, then she marries Rigger Mortis who dies soon after, now she gets married to Hugh Thanasia who also dies soon after with his brother, "As a Elder Olive had Nervous"I would just have her have Nervous by one of her many husbans or from any one els you want to.(You can get Chirs Hatch "Alternate Pregnancy Controllers and his Free For All Bed from BAS to get her pregnant as a Elder like it is in her memories.)   Last but not least she marries Ichabod Specter who also dies very soon after of old age.

Old Town from Sims 1
« Reply #7 on: February 11, 2014, 08:26:51 PM »
Ok this is my try at making the Old Town from Sims 1 game for Sims2.
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=522506 (SIM1=with Sims SIM2 without Sims)

I have used clean and empty template to make and were possible I use extracted and clones Pleasantview Sims for this. IE Gunther Goth and all other Sims from Pleasantview who were in the Old Town hood for Sims 1.

I have made Michael Bachelor as Bella Goth brother from clones of both.

I have included all the downloadable family from the org. EA/Maxis web site. Hatfield, Jones, Agent, Valentino, Maximus and Snooty Patooty families.
Plus all other palyable families that came with the Sims 1 plus EP's.

This only needs the base game to play.

How to install this hood.
Put the SIM1 folder into your Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder. (With Sims)
Put the SIM2 folder into your Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder. (Without Sims)

Come one, come all.  Riverside.
Hi every one.

There were some minor problems with the lots in this hood which I tried to fix but could not do. (These problems were not game breaking.)

So with that being said I have went and remade the hood all over again and this time there is no problems with it and I made the hood without Sims to.

Now at MTS for both: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=503756

Thsms204 Made the org. re-creation of the lost Maxis Riverside Hood. http://thsms204.webs.com/ With that being said it was also buggy.
Sadly Thsms204 left the Sims 2 community back in 2011 with out bringing out his V3 that he said was in the workings.

Well I have made V3  using only the base game and following Celesta92059 tutorial on resurrecting sims with no character data.
http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Resurrecting_tips#Resurrecting_Sims_with_no_character_data
I have giving the deleted sims back there data and have clone all the sims and made them anew in this V3 Riverside "Base Game" Hood.
I have made all the houses with interior walls and floors to make them livable, unlike the org hood only having just the outside walls and no floors and interior walls.

The org hood have 2 familys in the family bin, well following the pics from Gamespot I have made the 2 houses and move the Russell and the Brooklyns into them.

There were 16 Townies and 4 other sims that were deleted from the game which some of the playable sims had memory of and these are the ones I brought back to life.

Baxters.

Russell in there new house.

Here we have the Jefferson's.

Here we have the Robert's.

Here we have the Anderson's.

Here we have the Marshall's.

Here we have the Molyneux's.

Here we have the Brooklyn's In there new house.

Here we have the Brooke's.

Riverside download.

Now at MTS for both with and without Sims: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=503756

I used clean and empty "Base Game" template to make. There will be very few Townies when you frist start to play this. Most of them will be the party going teens plus 2 adults
I used Mootilda Hood Checker Program from MTS, before, during and after making this hood. So there should be no problems.

Credit goes to Thsms204 for the Org. Riverside Hood and Mootilda for her Hood Checker Programs to help make Hoods better for all of us.

Thanks guys, it was fun making them./

Remember there are no townies/NPC in any of the hoods but for the 16 in Riverside that I fixed and cloned in.

I do recommend you get all the "No Regen" mods from MATY http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7.0.html

Quote
a. Notownieregen: As its name says, it'll prevent your game from creating new townies at all. If you want customized townies in your neighborhoods (creating them through CAS and adding them with a teleporter), you'll need to keep it in your downloads folder at all times (before creating or loading the neighborhood for the first time and afterwards). I usually just let my game generate new random townies on its own and add this hack a few gaming sessions later to stop the "townie production".

b. Antiredundacy:  It prevents your game from creating unneeded NPC's (like maids, bartenders, paperboys, etc.). By default, the game creates three of each kind of NPC's so, if you have most EP's, you may end up with a lot of NPCs you won't even see at all! This hack only lets the game to generate ONE NPC from each kind at a time. And if you have Bon Voyage, I read this is a very important hack. I really don't know.

c. No Stray Respawn. Only if you have Pets, it keeps your game from creating strays and other random pets in the game (that also count as character files).

d. No SS Respawn. Only if you have University. Instead of creating new dormies to become Secret Society members, it forces the game to actually use current dormies as SS members.

e. No Dormie Respawn. Only if you have University. It keeps your game from creating dormies. I don't really use this hack, but it might be useful for those who want to create specific YA sims to become dormies. You can only find this hack in the Director's cut zip.
All this info came from http://simgaroop.dreamwidth.org/36499.html but a lot of the links are now broken.

If you have any other mods that well help out then please post your choice here.

These look fantastic! Especially Old Town (nostalgiaaaa) and Riverside.

One question though - will the game start repopulating the NPC "bin" with new townies once I start playing the hood? I don't have NoRegen or any of those limiting mods.
Sims 1 was best for construction. Sims 2 was best for Simming and modding. Sims 3 was best for nothing.

It will repopulate NPC as they are needed. I don't know about reg. townies though.
For me I only like to have the downtown townies for downtown to me can be link to all hoods.(This is my way of thinking of having the same downtown townies in all hoods.)

Townies will be generated as needed as well.  When you first move into the new hood, around 10am the first townie will be generated to walk by your house.  A couple social townies will be generated, too.  A visit to a community or owned lot will generate more townies.  Children and teens will be generated when a playable child or teen visits a community or owned lot as well.

Rather than waiting for my townies and NPCs to generate, I'll spawn the Townie and NPC Generator  (testingcheatsenabled, shift click a sim and spawn it).  You can either generate one at a time to your specifications or bulk generate townies with a mix of genders, some teens and children or 3 each of the service NPCs.  Don't generate downtownies.  Last time I did I ended up with 3 copies of them all because of the way NL was coded.

Of the suggested mods to limit NPCs, antiredundancy is the only one that may be needed, and that's only if you have Bon Voyage.  I think the patch fixed the never ending spawning of vacation NPCs so the mod may be optional now.

Anti-redundancy also stops the repeated spawning of the Charlatan, which I don't think the patch fixed.  I originally also stopped the repeated spawning of baristas, but that may have been fixed in a patch.

I understand now. I figured the game had some measures of self-repopulation. I may have to look into that Antiredundancy thing, however.

EDIT: I searched it up, turns out I don't have much use for it. I like having more than one unique service NPC for each profession, and I have the BV patch.

Just for the record, if you want to avoid the notoriously annoying "Triplet Bug" thing when generating fresh Downtownies, Aaroneous has a terrific mod available on his Sim Manipulator site that nukes those stupid templates & makes Downtownies re-generate just like Townies.

It's a serious must-have!

Deleting the triplets with the cat?  Sure you could zap them from the lot, but as with any sim, deleting once they are in an active game can lead to problems.  Aaroneous prevents them from getting into the game.

@ZZ: Inge's Cat is great if you only ever plan to convert CAS Sims into Downtownies.

But if you want the randomness that comes with letting the game do it's own generating then Aaroneous's mod is the only way to overwrite the bizarre EAxis code that forces all game-generated Downtownies to use those crazy hidden templates instead of being created from all your available "Townified" stuff.

Inge's Cat is cool & all (& very useful) but unless I am creating a super-special "themed" neighborhood that *requires* me to hand-make all my "ambient" peeps myself then I much prefer the *surprise* element that comes with letting the game make it's own Townies/etc in a new neighborhood. It just isn't as much fun for me when I already *know* every single Sim in a neighborhood because I just spent several hours creating them myself! Plus, I find it rather tedious. (It's a "me" thing.)

*Crossed with AH but am not deleting this post, so there! *

Besides, that's what happens on a forum: occasionally, several people will all respond to a single message. The real cross-post is if they both say exactly the same thing (though possibly in different words), without knowing it of each other. :)

Thanks for the info.  You see, I have never, ever, created townies of any description except through CAS and in the early days before notownieregen when I killed off a particularly unpleasant townie and got issued with one who was even worse!

I thought I would let every one know that for Life Stories and Pet Stories players you can add any number of BASE game hoods you want to and they will work, they will go into the rotation and you can chose which one to play.

For Pet Stories all elders will be change to adults in elder bodies.

All my hoods here are base game and will work in both.

So I finally got around to trying out Riverside and Old Town...

And I will say even with the limitations of base game Sims 2 and the striking difference between CAS options in 1 and 2, you did a bang-up job on Old Town! Especially with the lots themselves.

Riverside also has a lot of potential, and many different routes I could take it. I see where those families inspired the ones we see in the final game (a home-wrecking woman named Dina and a romance-aspiration sim named Don...I mean come on :P)
Sims 1 was best for construction. Sims 2 was best for Simming and modding. Sims 3 was best for nothing.

Sims 4? Hell if I know.

Well I went and done it.

Castaway Stories hood for Sims 2. Only need the base game to play.
There is only 1 house in at this time and all playable Sims are in the bin.

Ok there were 3 NPC I extracted and clone (1 adult and 2 teens) that I made into townies.
All the other townies (31) were extracted and clone plus all 24 playable including Jessica Knight and David Bennett.
I clone Earnest Langsford as Emma dad and made him a townie, same for Robby Smith which I made a sim parent and made her a townie.

   http://simfil.es/123665/
Put the N335 folder into C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods

The Saved Sims files are for those who don't want the hood but may want some of the Sims in other hoods and you just put which ones you want in the   C:\Users\(Your Computer Name)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\SavedSims then use CAS to make them up.
Saved Sims files for Castaway Stories.

A lot of players has express interest in the Pet Stories Hoods.

I have renumbered them to PET1, PET2 and PET3 so they will not conflict with any other hood.
They will be missing some walls and floors and you will need to fix/finish them to your taste.

These will need Pets EP to play.

They have never been played and I have did no SimPE work on them.

This hood is for testing only for I can not guarantee it to be corruption free.
Pleasantview with all dead and deleted Sims fixed so they can be resurrected.
   http://simfil.es/121828/

After you install this hood and start up your game, go into the hood and make 1 change on any lot so you can save and then exit the game.

Go here and get Mootilda's Hood Checker Program http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=456523 and fix any thing it finds.

How I fixed the Sims:
Following this tutorial by Celesta92059. http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Resurrecting_tips

Quote
A summary of the illustrated tutorial[dead link] by Celesta92059[dead link] .

First, create or download a clone of the Sim you want to resurrect. If the downloaded clone is a .package file, place it in the SavedSims folder, and it will appear in Create a Sim. Otherwise, if it is a .sims2pack file, install it. Go to CAS, select the Sim Bin, and select the clone. Give the clone a name, then proceed to Step 6 and, if necessary, select the clone's zodiac sign, personality, aspiration, and chemistry. Save the created Sim, then exit the game.

Now, open SimPE and follow these steps:
1. Open the neighborhood, and find the clone in the Sim Browser.
2. In the Plugin View, click the "More" tab, then select Open Character File.
3. Click in the Resource List, and press Ctrl-A to select all resources.
4. Go to the menu and select "Extract . . .". You will see a "Browse for Folder" dialog. Browse to the desktop, click "Make New Folder", and save the files to that folder.
5. Make sure you have closed the clone's character file, then reload the neighborhood and open the real Sim you want to resurrect.
6. If the Sim's picture has a blue background, you will need to relink that Sim. Click the "Other" tab. In the "Misc" box, one of the fields will say "Unlinked: 0x0001". Change the 1 at the end to a 0 (zero).
7. Click the "Commit" button, then save. The Sim's picture in the "Overview" tab should now have a red background, meaning that his or her character data is incomplete..
8. Click the "More" tab, and open the Sim's Character File.
9. Minimize SimPE, so the desktop is visible. Open the folder which has the data that was extracted from the clone. Remove these seven files: Catalog Description, Directory of Compressed files, jpgtgapng image, Object Data, Object Functions, Version Information, and package.
10. Maximize SimPE.
11. Select the "Add . . ." option. You will need to browse to the folder which has the data that was extracted from the clone. The extracted data will be in subfolders. You will have to add the data from each subfolder, but will only be able to do one at a time.
12. Enter the first subfolder, select all the files in it, and click "Open". This will close the browse dialog, so select "Add . . ." again, enter the next subfolder, select all the files in it, and click "Open". Repeat this until you are sure you have added the data from all of the subfolders.
13. In the "Resource Tree" window, select Object Data (OBJD). Highlight the file that appears in the Resource List window. The Object Data will appear in the Plugin View window.
14. In the Plugin View, look for a dropdown labeled "Obj. Type". One of the options in that dropdown will be "Person". Select "Person", then find and click the Commit button.
15. In the Plugin View window change the Obj.Type to Person.
16. Save. Wait for all the resource names in italics to change to regular type.

Welcome to "Riverside Shopping". (Mega hood lovers unite.)
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=521577

I have been ask to make Riverside a "Shopping District", so to that end I now have "Riverside Shopping" .
(I will not put the story or pic's here, if you would like to see them look in post # 8 for it is the same.)

To install this you need to place the B107 folder into your programs folder under "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Open For Business\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate"

You will need to use Mootilda's mod to fix subhood selection button: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=420924
Quote from: Mootilda
-OR-

 - You can temporarily move the shipped D001 (Downtown) or B001 (Business District) folders somewhere else. Then, your new subhood should be available to be installed by clicking on the large button. Be sure to restore the original shipped neighborhoods after you've installed your new subhood.

Any one can do them for they don't have any deleted Sims, the reason I did the 3 base game hoods is EA/Maxis deleted all the "Ancestor's" or I should say most of them anyway.

One of these days I could do them.

Yes, I see.  It would be easy enough, of course, to bring the dead ancestors back to life and doctor their memories where necessary.  If one got rid of the descendants, the question is, would the ancestors eventually procreate them?  or not....

They can be extracted using SimPE and made new in a Beginning hood like I did for the other 3.

There is no way to tell if EA/Maxis just made the Sims or birth them in-game.

In the Beginning of Pleasantview I have only gotten Gunther Goth to a teen so far before I lost interest in playing.

We have Victor, Gretle, Gunther and little Frida Goth.

I suppose if you delved into their DNA it might tell you - but considering how few early memories those sims have compared to the base game sims, I'd say the whole caboodle were made in CAS separately, and then artificially linked.

Indeed! I'm grateful that it didn't turn out that way :)

Hey ZZ if you could do the wright up on the Ancestor's in all the other hoods for who needs to marry who and which babies need to be born like I did for the first 3 Beginning hoods then I will make all of them.

Riverblossom Hills, Desiderata Valley, Belladonna Cove and Blue Water Village and I will extract all the ancestor's and make them up in new Hoods.

Mark, I'd like to help, but at present I'm just not playing Sims at all.  When I start to play again, I'll certainly think about it, but it may not be for a while yet.
