Hood Pictures, for new SC4 Terrians

How do I get pictures to work for the terrains I made them the right size made them png but they don't show up. I would like to share these but people dont want to look at the graft thing it shows. Also is there a way to make the terrain dessert, and so on without actually making all those hoods?

For the second point, I think all you need to do is (having saved the hood elsewhere) is load it again and change the terrain with the cheat.

As to the issue of getting the graph,  I think you need to add _lush, etc., to the filename.  I think the blank one which comes with each set of defaults is not actually loadable, it's the ones with the additional description that show up when you load the game.

Yep, it's the _lush (concrete, dirt or desert) that you need to get those custom pics to show properly.

I've got several self-made *preview pics* for certain user made maps that say "Concrete" or "Dirt" in big letters across the usual lush or desert picture. (It was easier than creating new 'hoods with each un-pictured terrain just to take a picture!)

ZW, if you do it in a completely vanilla game, it shouldn't take very long, and if you have half a dozen new terrains, then you would only need to load the game once to create a desert, etc. for each of them.  (If you want to include custom neighborhood stuff, that should really make very little difference to the load time.  Also, I don't think you need to actually create new hoods, just change the terrains of the existing ones, if necessary removing or copying the pics from the folder, just in case the game decides to override them.

Yeah, I've been thinking that I should consider carving out some time to do some of the little *fiddly* things like that now while I'm still in uber-light-test-mode, as once I get my normally ginormous collection of crap I've collected custom content back in place that sort of stuff becomes quite a chore!

That does sound like a chore.

I think my hoods are unique enough, very small blocks to give it that old city look. Even though in reality I like wild and open places for citys these would be wanted before I made these I looked for grid like cities but Sleepy Cat's were the only ones that came close to what I wanted, and yet the blocks were not small enough. These are so small 4by4 lots fit on them. So far the two I made one has less small blocks the other has more they both play great. I want to make another with more beach lots.
I plan on completely testing them on several machines before offering them.

There's a terrain-filling grid on my site too, under City Planning.  Just ignore the malware warning; my site is not curren tly infected.
