Fake (Decorative) Sims? **FOUND!!**
« on: August 02, 2010, 02:30:05 PM »
****EDITED MAY 25th 2011 TO ADD THE FOLLOWING UPDATE!!****

Woot!

It seems that XPTL from InSim has answered my prayers & has been releasing a series of fake Sims ("dolls") in various poses/occupations on his extreme creations section, if anyone else is interested. There are fake cashiers, fake band members, a fake audience & many more!

There is even a fake wedding set, which includes a priest!!!

YAY!

(I actually asked XPTL on an adult TS2 site about the possibility of modifying one of his "adult" dolls for making fake Sims a few months back. Looks like my query wasn't ignored!)

Now, to start making my own recolors & such....

***My Original 2010 Post/Plea Is Below***

This might sound nuts, but considering who's asking the question you have to agree it could be a lot worse!

Anyway, I am wondering if anyone out there has come across any fake Sims. As in a set of statues/whatever that look like an actual TS2 Sim just standing around, but aren't.

I found these dolls by Rebecah at MTS that have been made to look like the in-game infants & toddlers but have yet to find any fake/decorative adult-looking Sims.

So, if anyone knows of something that looks even passably like an adult (or elder) TS2 Sim - but isn't really a Sim - please give me a link!

The only decorative sims I know are, well, dead ones. X)

If you have any use for them...

Oh- hadn't seen those yet! Thanks for the link! (Those will be perfect for a different project...)

As far as fake "live" Sims go, the closest I found to what I'm after are a set of formal-wear male and female mannequins at MTS, but they are lacking heads which kind of ruins the whole live-person effect...although the poses themselves are perfect for what I *need*.

Strange, with all the animal sculptures around, you'd think someone would have made a mannequin that looked like a human sim.... and could be dressed according to what suits your hood.  I wonder, though, if it would be possible to use real sims and somehow individually freeze them in time?

I'm wondering the same thing(s). It's obviously possible to create non-live objects that look like live Sims (as Rebeca proved with her baby dolls) so I am wondering why nobody has ever done so for (non-deceased) adults/etc?

If I could just stick some heads on the dummies in my previous posts, they would be perfect for my needs.

It would certainly mean that you could create, for story purposes, a much more crowded, bustling community lot (such as a street market or nightclub) than would ever be possible with just visitors to the lot.

What I do for crowded scenes is teleport in some additional simmies.  They usually stick around.  Of course, depending on your computer, this could slow down your game, so the fake ones are a nice idea.

It must be possible Wolf made a bunch for Sims1, waitress, cashier, desk clerks, dinner customers, maids, service station worker, I wish there were someone that would take suggestions. Neither Wolf, Kivak or I have ever gotten past making clothes and sims for Sims2. It was easy making Sims1 Sims just two pictures of real Sims in the same posiition.

I'm wondering if one could make a real Sim into an inanimate object. If they can be manipulated in such a way that they don't 'behave' as sims anymore - no needs, no wants, no reactions to any stimuli - then they would effectively become statues or sculptures.

Well, there is the Freezer Clock, they remain sims but without any needs (I'm not sure if they will age while frozen) and you can reanimate them.

Yeah, indeed. You're absolutely right, ZZ!

But I wasn't thinking of just freezing them with a thing like the Freezer Clock. In stead, my idea was to export a number of sims, and use some advanced trickery in SimPE to REALLY turn them into statues ;)

A frozen sim is still a sim that requires processor time - even if it's just to verify that it doesn't need anything and can't move - , a statue requires a lot less, because it doesn't possess the ability to move. At least... not on its own.

It's obviously possible to do somehow (reference Beck's baby dolls) so I might have to < gulp > consider finding out exactly how Milkshape works & put it on my see-if-I-can-do-it list.....or maybe I will hide in the safely of other *busy work* for a while longer until my courage is sufficiently higher!

If you don't mind sims who are basically just standing, then you could use one of those OFB statues as a base....

Yeah, I thought that would probably be a good starting point as - in theory - all I would need to do is make (or import) a Sim head-mesh and find a way to stick in on. I have some instructions BlooM posted about slicing his (?) sexy feet meshes into other body shape meshes via Milkshape & figure it would be a similar thing to splice a head onto a mannequin base.

Basic standing is fine for my primary need, which is to create some fake priest/justice of the peace/druid/etc "Sims" that I could use to give the illusion that somebody "official" is presiding over my Sim's weddings. It really bugs me that getting married via an arch doesn't look all that different from an elopement (to me, anyway) & I thought putting a fake official-looking Sim there (behind a cloned podium for "church" weddings) would make things look "better"...or at least, make me happier! Plus I'm getting tired of *having* to create CAS Sims to play the various "non-speaking" parts I want for some of my stories & figure that going the fake route could cut down on my Character files, leaving them for Sims that I need instead of Sims I only want for decoration.

I might try looking at the different "Pose Boxes" available too, as it's possible they already contain some basic 3D meshes I could play with.

Whoopsie!

Me too, obviously. As 99% of folks who use female avatars or feminine names on Sims sites turn out to be guys (for reasons I am happy not understanding!) I just assumed BlooM was a male...though wrongly, obviously! The really sad thing is I've even PM'ed him her at IS before!

BTW, do you have Mystic Velvet's shop window dummies from Blacky's?

No I don't! I'll have to take a stab at finding it...

Just load the new meshes, alle themen, and then type dummy in the search window - should find the mesh and the recolours.

Well, if I *am* mistaken, any one of us will soon find out, and then I can get clobbered over the head :) I am indeed mistaken, as arathea pointed out! Sorry for putting you on the wrong track, ZW!

However, I think that's not going to happen. How many males are into fashion and creating realistic and/or sexy details on body/clothes? Yeah, there are a few sexist pigs who make very slutty girls with big hooters and ginormous behinds. But most of the gifted fashion/body creators are female! But BlooM, apparently, is not!

It's also the name of a popular restaurant chain here in the states which is famous for it's well-endowed waitresses who wear tight fitting t-shirts when on the job.

Oh, yeah- that's right: The official corporate line is that they call the place Hooters because their mascot is an owl...which I'm sure we all believe, right?

hooter [ˈhuːtə]
n Chiefly Brit
1. a person or thing that hoots, esp a car horn
2. Slang a nose
Collins English Dictionary Complete and Unabridged HarperCollins Publishers 1991, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2003

Since BO lives next door to us in the UK, I thought he might like to know that if he came here and referred to a lapdancer as having a big hooter, he might well get his punched....

No, that's blocked for the same reason.  May well be due to our copyright laws here.

Wow- those *shadow-Sims* are pretty wild! Now, I wonder how hard it might be to give then more *life*? (Skin-tone, hair color, face, clothing...)

Another thing you might consider, is to have a smallish room, and put the whole-wall mirrors all over two opposing walls, so you would have a sort of *inifinity*....

Urgh! *ONLY* do that if you have a very high-end machine! I've tried stuff like that, and it's a horrible lagger! Even worse than 50 sims on your lot!

The room would still need to be big enough that you can get the camera inside with the walls up, so it can't be too small! I could tell you some horror stories about what you get, but seeing it for yourself is very educational, too! :cheese:

And if you do, please upload a screenshot of it, if your system still responds. Especially with some sims in the room. ;)

ZW, if you want a more official wedding, have a look at PCSims at the Graveyard. There is a hacked wedding arch that let you assign a sim as a priest. The file is called PriestMarry.

Ooohhhhh!

Pretty blue link!

< clicks link like the download zombie-whore I am >

***edited to add***

Um..okay.

So I'm going down the list the pretty blue link took me to, happily downloading stuff & clicking on JPGs. Everything is right with the world when I come to what claims to be an Occultist Table - which sounds intriguing except that the JPG just shows some dude sitting in a chair looking at some gobbledygook chart and just as I'm thinking "WTF kind of occult item looks like that?!" it finally registers that the JPG also shows a pie menu around the sitting dude....

...a pie menu with the option to test the sight of different Sims...

...because it's not an Occultist Table it's an Oculist Table.

I guess it's time to get my fuzzy wolf butt to my own Oculist & get my glasses prescription updated, eh?

ZW, I thought I had the mannequins you linked to above but I had different ones and as far as I remember they had a head. I would have a hard time finding them because I don't have them in my game anymore since they were very large files. I will try to remember where I had them from because then I may be able to find them in my download archive.
