This thread contains the follow hacks that fix Maxis bugs:

  • Age Transition Fixes (& teens keep loves version)
  • Bring Hobby Friend From Work Fix
  • Complain to Owner Social fix
  • Cheesecake & Twins fix
  • Death by Toddler Toy fix
  • Free Time Aspiration Critical Fix (moved to Dead Pool - fixed in FTp1)
  • Go steady fix
  • Gypsy - Free Time Genie Delivery Fix
  • Photobooth Try for Baby fix
  • Skunk Attraction Fix

Bring Hobby Friend From Work Fix
Fixes a Free Time bug that causes a sim to bring the same Hobby Friend home from work EVERY DAY for the rest of their lives.

Bring Hobby Friend From Work Fix.zip - FT Version

Cheesecake Twins Fix
Despite what the OFB Prima Guide says, pregnant sims who eat cheesecake (and they MUST already be pregnant, not before they try for baby) will have their pregnancy changed to twins always. This hack changes that to a random chance of 50%, 20%, or 10% depending on which version you install. Only install one a time.

Cheesecake Twins Fix.zip - OFB or Higher

Complain to Owner Social Fix
Fixes a bug in the OFB customer complain social that could cause errors on owned business lots.

Complain Fix.zip - OFB or Higher

Death by Toddler Toy Fix
Sims who use the 'Play with' interaction to play with a toddler using a toy will now stop if a motive becomes critical instead of continuing to play with the toddler until they drop dead of starvation or energy failure.

Toddler Toy Death Fix.zip - All Versions

Gypsy - Free Time Genie Delivery Fix
Fixes bug that causes the genie be unable to perform any of her other duties once she has delivered a genie lamp to any family. NOTE: You will need to have the gypsy appear once on the lot and let her deliver one more lamp after installing the fix before she will be 'fixed'.

Gypsy-FTGenieFix.zip - FT Version

Photobooth Try for Baby Fix
Fixes a Maxian bug in the try for baby code that could cause a 'jump' when trying for baby in the photo booth. With debug mode on the error would appear as 'Stack Number out of Range'. NOTE: This is not compatible (or needed) if you have the InTeenimator installed, this bug fix is already included. It is also not compatible with Syperspunk's risky woohoo hack for the photo booth (available from MTS2 & MATY).

Photo Booth Try for Baby Fix.zip - NL or Higher

Skunk Attraction Fix
Fixes errors caused by a Maxis bug that allows the game to attempt to calclulate attraction between a sim and a skunk. Obviously this can't happen, and errors out every time. Conflicts with (and unnecessary with) Inteen. Not compatible with my Teen/Adult Attraction Fix (it also includes this fix).

Skunk Attraction Fix.zip - Pets or Higher

First I'd like to say thanks so much for your excellent work.  I'm just getting going and trying to get my install perfectly set for me and my nieces to have fun this weekend.

I'm curious about some of the bugfixes you've made.  It seems many of them are from older expansion packs... why hasn't Maxis fixed them if all they need to do is copy what you've already done?

Also.  For the critical fixes - when Maxis releases a patch that doesn't mess up your computer (like the last freetime patch) - if the patch fixes issues we've been using a hack for... will just removing your hack/fix before updating with the new patch be OK?  Or are you kinda forced to either go all your work, and no Maxis patches?

Depends on how EAxis fixes the bug. Sometimes their fix is just as bad as the bug so I'll leave my fix posted. Other times (like the FT aspiration bug should they ever release the patch again) their fix is fine so I'll move my fix to the dead pool. And sometimes they don't even bother to ever fix the bug. Why? *shrug*

Yes, it's like the old problem with the scanner gun getting deleted when a sim drops it, the problem is still there as Pescado still includes his scannergunhack in the FT zip, and that problem started in the base game!

There are times I think it's due to sheer laziness. They don't fix it because they figure that a talented modder has already solved the issue for them. Like that one female hair that has been hidden in CAS since way back when. Pescado quickly made a fix for it, but it's only with the FT patch that EA now fixes it themselves? Or the issues with toddlers playing in the toilet. Broken since the beginning, yet not an issue for us with your fix. Only now fixed by the Maxoids with FT? Lazy!

Totally uncalled for carelessness - it's one thing for a new EP to bring certain problems with it, but within that new EP all the problems pertaining to the last one should be fixed, whereas with Seasons, for example, they returned to base game coding for a lot of the stuff, which meant things they fixed in Uni, NL, OFB or Pets, were broken once again - the nanny in particular, and the difficulty in getting rid of her once she has been hired.  I recently had to exit a lot without saving and move the family because the darned nanny car turned up just as the kid was about to grow up to teen, she lost her queue and returned to the beginning of childhood!  That, too, I haven't seen since the Base Game!

Did the SP K&B contain the patch for FT?

Ha. Haha. Hahaha. Hahahahahahahahahahaha...

(Sorry.)  No, it didn't.  EAxis has never issued an EP patch as part of an SP, as far as I know.  In fact, more often than not the SP is based on old code, and if you run off the SP executable you reintroduce bugs into your game that were fixed in a prior EP patch.  Be glad if you have FT you're not running the K&B executable.

I'd be a lot happier if the bloody EP's didn't force patch my game as well. I was quite happy with my workrounds. I miss the screaming babies. I know that makes me in the minority, but it was much more realistic.

if you didn't install the FT patch while it was available (or get it off the link thats somewhere in a post at MATY) then yes, you need the critical fix.

*delurks for this post*

and it still seems that EAxis hasn't fixed the bug where employees change into their uniforms and become a totally different sim, or better yet a frog faced townie. Come on EAxis, that hasn't been fixed in two years. It's irresponsible of them to think modders will fix their stuff. I mean, where would we be if Lord Darcy never fixed the borked stuff pack objects for us? Ever since EA took over they have been less and less responsible, and much too greedy. They expect great modders to do their job for them when EA just twiddles their thumbs. It's ridiculous and should stop, but I forsee that not happening at all. I also forsee low sales on TS3.
